I.R.S. Prohibited From Pursuing Audits of Trump and His Family” NYT, May 19, 2026
“As part of the Justice Department’s compensation fund deal, officials vowed not to pursue any matters, including those involving President Trump’s tax returns, which are pending.” (NYT Ibid) The United States Justice Department under the new leadership of Todd Blanche, has idiomatically and deceptively defrauded the American people and the U.S. government.
The New York Times revealed that Mr. Trump had only paid $750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017. The Trump Organization, his two elder sons, and Trump himself filed a lawsuit against the IRS stating, the “NYT leak caused the plaintiffs ‘reputational and financial harm’ and ‘public embarrassment.” The judge assigned to this case, Kathleen Williams of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, commented on the ‘strange’ nature of this case. She smelled something amiss or rotten. Mr. Trump’s comment on Air Force One was, “Well I’ll have to work out a settlement with myself.” (Ibid)
For now, the administration appears poised to create a nearly $1.8 billion fund established by the administration and capitalized with taxpayer dollars. It will be administered by individuals chosen exclusively by the administration, without meaningful external review or accountability.
Signed by the acting attorney general, this order does not include a procedure for distributing the funds or to whom.
In a normally functioning democracy, such a court case would have been tossed out of court. Instead, this president – who has an exceptionally long record of misusing funds, has maneuvered this court’s decision to award him $1.8 Billion of taxpayer monies to do with as he wishes. At the same time, it prevents the IRS from auditing himself, his sons, and his organization – which were all previously found guilty of business fraud.
Another trustworthy and loyal federal employee resigned. Brian Morrissey, who was the top lawyer at the Treasury, left after the Justice Department announced the settlement. This is another ‘protection racket’ rigged by the man elected to the top-most position of the U.S. government. It was a win-win for him and a lose-lose for the American people.

This is brutally and utterly corrupt. If this is allowed to go forward people in this country should consider not paying taxes .
As it is now , Trump is profiting and grifting his way through his term . Of course the Supreme Court is allowing this and endorsing this by bestowing immunity for his crimes, of which there are many.
This BS has got to stop . He has no right to break the law openly and at will. I am aware that he thinks himself above everyone and every reasonable principle of Democracy.
It’s up to us to let him know he’s not.
I think we’d best get busy. It is appalling .
